About the Museum of Truckee History
The Museum of Truckee History is a non-profit collaboration between the Truckee-Donner Historical Society and the Truckee Donner Railroad Society. The museum is staffed and supported entirely by volunteers from the community. The mission of the museum is to bring Truckee’s history alive by illustrating the stories of its major industries through the display of artifacts and exhibits, creation of documentary films, and access to lectures, educational programs, and research facilities.

Preserving the History of Truckee
Truckee-Donner Historical Society
The Truckee-Donner Historical society was founded in 1968 to preserve the history of the Truckee - Donner area. The society operates the Old Jail Museum and maintains the historic Joseph Research Cabin (the Gateway Cabin), the Community Memorial Garden, the Donner Cross, and Schaffer Cemetery. Truckee Donner Railroad Society
The Truckee Donner Railroad Society operates the Truckee Railroad Museum in the caboose at the west end of the depot, the railroad crane and rotary snowplow exhibit in the Railyard pocket park, and the kids' ride-on train in the Truckee River Regional Park.
